Lewes Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce they have arranged for free car parking in thirteen of the Town’s Pay & Display car parks on Saturdays throughout December.
Lewes District Council (LDC) has agreed to offer day-time free parking to pre-Christmas shoppers in a bid to attract visitors to the Town. The relevant Saturdays are: 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd December.
Chamber President, Ashley Price, said “We are very grateful to Lewes District Council for providing the free parking in their car parks, which will help encourage both Lewes residents and shoppers from other nearby areas to do their shopping in Lewes in the run up to Christmas. This will be a boost for our shops and other businesses in the town.”
Drivers using the car parks on the free Saturdays are reminded not to pay at the meters nor use the phone number or app, as the charge will be levied and drivers will not get a refund.
Please note this applies to the following LDC Car Parks only, and NOT on street parking:
- Brook Street
- Cliffe High Street
- East Street
- Friars Walk (not the 2nd or 16th due to Farmers Market)
- Little East Street
- The Maltings
- Market Lane
- Mountfield Road
- Phoenix Causeway
- Pinwell Road
- South Street (North)
- Spring Gardens
- West Street
(Unfortunately, Westgate Street car park will continue to remain closed throughout December.)
