Thursday 1st December saw Lewes’s ever popular Late Night Shopping event, organised by Lewes Chamber of Commerce.
Lewes Chamber of Commerce President, Clare Crouch said:
“It was great to see so many businesses getting into the Christmas spirit and taking part in the event, the Town had a real buzz on the night. It’s a difficult time for everyone at the moment so it was fabulous to see the people of Lewes supporting our amazing array of independent shops.
“There’s still three shopping Saturdays until Christmas, so I’d encourage Lewes residents, and visitors, to take advantage of the selected free parking we have negotiated with Lewes District Council. We hope this will give everyone planning their Christmas shopping yet another great reason to do it here in Lewes!”
BBC Radio Sussex covered the event, with live broadcasts on the night, and a follow up on the next morning’s breakfast show.
The Best Dressed Window competition was this year judged by Lewes’s Deputy Mayor, Cllr Matthew Bird, and Lewes Town Crier, Jon Borthwick. The results were:
Winner: Nørd
Runners up: Flint Owl & Between the Lines
Nørd win a year’s free membership to the Chamber and will have their name added to the engraved trophy. A presentation to Nørd will be made at their premises nearer to Christmas.
Lewes Chamber of Commerce would like to thank everyone involved in the evening. To all the traders and businesses, the stallholders, the entertainers, groups, choirs and dancers, to Father Christmas, and to Commercial Square Bonfire Society who assisted in marshalling the Road Closed Barriers – the event would not be the success it was without you all.
